My Story

My Journey: From Darkness to Light

Hello, I’m Jyoti, born in Birmingham, England, into a traditional Indian Gujarati family. From a young age, my mother introduced my sisters and me to the transformative practices of meditation, chanting, and dance to help us awaken to our Divine Purpose. My name, Jyoti, means “light,” and I believe it was given to me with the intention of bringing light into the world.

Tragically, when I was 16, I lost my mother and sister in a car accident. This devastating loss derailed me from the path of enlightenment and guidance my mother had barely begun to teach me. However, it was within this darkness that I found the beginnings of my inner light.

At 17, I faced significant losses in my family, which gave me the strength and independence to leave home and carve my own path. Driven by a desire to find beauty and meaning in life’s chaos, I pursued a degree in Visual Communication and Space Design at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising.

Graduating brought new opportunities and I embarked on a vibrant career. Starting as a photo stylist for Robinsons-May Catalog for two years, I developed a keen eye for detail and aesthetics. This experience led me to work as a window display artist and fashion stylist, roles that refined my creative vision and versatility.

However, it was my journey with Bobbi Brown that truly aligned with my core values. Becoming a certified makeup artist with Bobbi Brown was a transformative experience. I was profoundly inspired by their philosophy that every woman is beautiful in her own way and that makeup is simply a tool to enhance that natural beauty. The training and philosophy I embraced at Bobbi Brown shaped my career and personal outlook profoundly.

For 20 years, I have applied the skills and principles I learned at Bobbi Brown, feeling blessed and resonant with their approach to beauty. This journey not only molded my professional expertise but also helped me to love my unique beauty style and to own my personal story with pride.

Through my career, I have grown to understand that beauty is not just about appearance—it’s about capturing the essence of who someone truly is. This belief guides me every day, both in my work and personal life, allowing me to connect deeply with the people I meet and help them see their unique beauty.
