My Story

The Path of Light

Hi my name is Jyoti. I was born in Birmingham, England and grew up in a traditional Indian Gujarati Family. As a child, my mum taught my sisters and I how to meditate, chant and dance to awaken to our Divine Purpose. Sadly, my mother passed when I was young and I lost sight of her teachings and the guidance I’d barely started to grasp. In many ways, losing her when I did, threw me from my path and my soul’s purpose. 

My parents named me Jyoti because it means light. I believe I was meant to bring light into the world, but first I would have to find it in myself. 

It would be many years before I would return to my mother’s teachings to deepen my understanding of those tools and myself. My journey toward my light led me to Yoga, which led me to teaching. I find that sharing my discoveries, deepens my joy for them. As I watch others grow around me, I grow as well. It may be my way of regaining a connection to my own mother, a great teacher, and in that way, the Divine Creator.
